Our Driver Runs on Starbucks

The flight went fine and we got to see a lot of beautiful scenery on the way, tall clean brown mountains, canyons and lakes. Salt Lake City, where we switched flights was very beautiful; at least from the air where we could see the high, snow covered mountains around it and the great lake and the marshes and deltas around it. It reminded me a bit of the Dead Marshes in the movie Lord of the Rings.
As we flew in we realized we were going to love Seattle. After flying over the extremely green city (compared to Chicago which is grey and brown) we landed at the airport just south of the city center. Our friend Britta Safstrom picked us up with her Chevrolet Tahoe, in which Frida Eriksson and Joanna Isaksson were also riding. Frida and Joanna are our good friends and classmates from Södra Vätterbygdens Folkhögskola and now North Park University, who are traveling with us for half of the trip. The first thing we did was to go and pick up some coffee at Starbucks, which was started in Seattle and now exists all over the world. They actually have two in Norway, but none in Sweden. Lucky Norwegians, but we still have so much more than they do, so we should be happy for them. With coffee in the cup holders in the car we drove to a beautiful waterfall, Snoqualmie Falls, where we enjoyed the marvelous landscape and nature for a while. When we got back to her house her parents had prepared a real American BBQ, with big patties that Papa Don grilled on the in the garden. Delicious! As we say here: “Go big or go home.” Haha! After a relaxed evening we fell asleep, tired but happy. We felt like we had come home, or at least, to a home, a very nice home.

Oh, I’m so jealous your first stop (after Starbucks, of course) was Snoqualmie Falls! What a beautiful place! It sounds like you guys are having such a great time. Saknar er!
