A bay up in north western Washington. Vaughn, on the Key Peninsula. Photo by Isak Nilsson. | Super Sweden from Olesund
On Tuesday around noon we went downtown. The rain drizzled and the sky was grey, but we knew it could be worse so we enjoyed the walk in Seattle anyways. We went to the famous Pike Place Market, the first Starbucks, and had fish and chips at Ivar´s, where we also fed the seagulls, who snagged the food from our hands. After a quick look at the Space Needle we drove south to Britta´s cabin in Vaughn, on the Key Peninsula. The cabin was right on the water and had a great view over the bay and the Olympics (a bunch of mountains).
When we drove through the thick, green forests and on the hilly roads we realized that Seattle is like an extreme version of Sweden. Greener, bigger trees, more hills and bigger mountains. The evening was mainly spent in front of a campfire, or actually two, the first one at Britta´s Aunt and Uncles house (which was about a mile away from the cabin) and then the second one back at the cabin. First we grilled hot dogs and then Peeps, which are sugar coated marshmallows (yes, it is actually possible to put more sugar on a marshmallow).

Hey Isak!
What great photos and blogs! You do make me laugh, though. Last fall when Kristina and I were in the Seattle area for the Christian Musician Summit, we described Washington as “Sweden – on steroids”. Yes!
I have to confess that this time of year I get very antsy to return to Sweden. We are going to celebrate Syttende Mai tomorrow with sill, akvavit, gjetost, osv. Any excuse to celebrate!
Hope you are having a blast!
