Defeating a Rattle Snake and Boating with Milk Shakes

On top of the Rattle Snake Peak   |   Defeating a Rattle Snake and Boating with Milk Shakes from Olesund

We woke up at nine this morning. The sky was grey and there was mist covering everything. This was not too encouraging since we were going to hike the Rattle Snake, a hiking trail by North Bend. Britta and her mom were quite sure the sun was going to break through, and it did, but not until we got closer to our destination. It was a one-hour hike to a peak that overlooked a valley and a couple of mountains and lakes. The path went through thick, very green forest and snaked its way up the mountainside. The view on the top took our breaths away; it was a fantastic sight that could have been taken out of a movie or a postcard. We just marveled and understood the greatness of the creation a little bit more.

After a shower and relax break back at the house we headed out for a boat trip on Lake Washington. The sun was still shining and we had the best weather so far in the Evergreen State. Britta, her parents, her friend Nicole and us went with the boat across the lake and bought lunch that we ate on the boat. Before going back, we swung by Bill Gates gigantic beach house that was built in into the mountain and was supposed to have a 40-car garage. Along the shore there was loads of pretty houses that all cost at least a million dollars each. It’s hard to understand how so many people can have so much money and it’s crazy how there is such a big upper class in America. In Sweden we have a gigantic middle class, a tiny upper class and a small lower class. Here the upper classes are so much bigger and I would say there is a richer middle class and a poorer which is different from Sweden where we are more “Lagom”.

After a great hike and boat day Britta and her dad took us to the train station where we got on a train heading for Salem, Oregon, which is our next stop. I don’t think we realized that it was our final goodbye until we reached the station. We won’t know when we will see our friend again. Thanks Britta and Seattle for a great few days.

Isak.
    Haha.
    Kärlek och Gud välsigne er.
